Switzerland, Nico enjoy successful start to IIHF world’s

Winning start to their world championship campaign for Nico and team Switzerland. Taking on Italy and Latvia over the weekend, the Swiss came out on top twice and lead the group B standings after the opening two games for each team.

A key contributor to the Swiss’ perfect start was Nico, who was impressive in his debut for the Swiss at the (senior) world championship level. After recording three points (1 G, 2 As) in the Swiss’ 9-0 drubbing of Italy, he also scored the game winner in last night’s match-up vs. Latvia, putting the Swiss ahead for good en route to a fiercely contested 3-1 win.

The Swiss now enjoy a day off, before taking on neighbour Austria on Tuesday afternoon (2:15 pm ET). Just 20 hours later, the Swiss will square off vs. Norway on Wednesday (10:15 am ET).
