Solid start into IIHF World Championships

Two games, four points: That’s the tally after Team Switzerland’s first two games at the IIHF World Championships in Herning and Stockholm. After a narrow 4-5 (OT) defeat vs. the Czech Republic in the tournament’s opener on Friday, the Swiss responded with a 5-2 win over host Denmark in game two on Saturday.

For Nico, who’s leading Team Switzerland into a World Championship campaign as the captain for the second time in his career, the first two games resulted in 2 goals and 1 assist, while finishing the tournament’s opening weekend a plus-2, with six shots on goal.

Coming up next for the Swiss and Nico is an encounter with Team USA on Monday morning (10:20 AM EST), followed by a game vs. rival Germany on Thursday (10:20 AM EST). The week then concludes with games vs. Norway on Friday (2:20 PM EST) and Hungary on Sunday   (2:20 PM EST).
