First preseason win and goal

Successful NHL preseason debut for Nico. In their first game of the 2017/2018 campaign, the Devils defeated the visiting Washington Capitals by a score of 4:1, with Nico scoring the final goal of the night.

Overall, Nico had three shots on goal, was 3-for-10 on faceoffs and was awarded with 13:37 minutes of icetime. On his breakaway goal with 4:14 minutes remaining in the third period, Nico first won the puck near the opposing blue line, skated past two defenders, before beating Caps goalie Vitek Vanecek off his backhand and inside the right post.

Next up on the Devils preseason schedule is a trip to Madison Square Garden, where they’ll take on the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.
