Bitter defeat vs. Germany

The Swiss national team and Nico have been eliminated from the IIHF World Championships in Riga in the quarterfinal round, after a dramatic 2-3 (SO) loss to Germany.

In a sense, it was a repeat performance of what happened to the Swiss at the last World Championships in 2019: Back then, the Swiss had also led for most of their game vs. Canada, only to concede the equalizer in the final minute of regulation. This time, the Swiss were unable to advance despite a 2-0 lead midway through the second period.

With the Swiss’ elimination from the IIHF worlds, the 2020/2021 season also comes to a conclusion for Nico. He will start his preparation for next season later this month after taking a short break.
