It’s official: Nico will represent Team Switzerland at the upcoming IIHF World Championships, held from May 15th to 31st in Zurich and Fribourg.

 

The home tournament will mark the 7th World Championship appearance in Nico’s pro career. Following back-to-back silver medals in 2024 and 2025, the Swiss team—now led by new head coach Jan Cadieux—is again aiming to compete for a spot in the tournament’s semifinals or more.

 

To prepare for the tournament, Nico and the Swiss squad will compete in the Beijer Hockey Games in Angelholm, Sweden, this week. For the three matchups against Finland, Sweden, and Czechia, Nico will be joined by fellow NHL stars Timo Meier, Nino Niederreiter, and Roman Josi, who will all make their first appearance as the Swiss are trying to find their final World Championship roster.
