Nico signs Entry-Level Contract with Devils
Nico’s first NHL contract is a done deal. In what was a fitting end to his first ever camp appearance with the New Jersey Devils, Nico signed a maximum three-year entry-level contract with the team that had drafted him first overall just three weeks earlier.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nico is set to earn a base salary of USD 925’000 per season, the maximum amount allowed. In addition, the contract includes various performance-based incentives.
A few hours prior to signing his contract, Nico wrapped up development camp by taking part in the Devils’ traditional « red-white » scrimmage. « It was simply a lot of fun to play hockey », Nico said following his team’s narrow 5-6 defeat.
