Devils gain two in week 2
Week 2 in the NHL brought more of the same for the New Jersey Devils and Nico, as they again alternated between a win and a loss. After falling to the Utah Mammoth by a score of 3-5 on Tuesday night, the Devils responded with a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday afternoon.
In that game, Nico also scored his first points of the current season, and his goal to temporarily tie the game at one also marked the 200th goal of his NHL career. In total, Nico collected three points last week (two goals, one assist), while recording four shots on goal. He averaged 21:04 minutes of ice time per night and prevailed in 58.4% of his faceoffs. He also finished the week with an even plus/minus.
Next up for New Jersey is the first four-game-week of this young season. After opening up vs. the Senators on Monday night (7 PM EST), the Devils then take on the Red Wings in Detroit just 23 hours later (Tuesday, 6 PM EST). Thursday night will mark this season’s first Hudson River Derby vs. the Rangers (7 PM EST), before concluding the week with a trip to Washington for an early Saturday showdown with the Capitals (1 PM EST).
