Nico, Team Switzerland enjoy solid start into Worlds

Successful start into the IIHF World Championships for Nico and Team Switzerland. Taking on defending champion USA (3-1) and Latvia (4-2) in preliminary group A action, the Swiss came with two wins and a perfect start into their home tournament.

 

On a personal note, Nico centered the first Swiss line alongside Timo Meier and Théo Rochette in both games. He recorded one assist, averaged 18:09 minutes of ice time, and registered a total of five shots on goal. He finished the opening World Championship weekend a plus-2 and prevailed in 72.73% of his faceoffs.

 

Following a day off today, the Swiss will resume play on Monday against arch-rival Germany (2:20 PM EST). Later in the week, they will also be put to the test vs. Austria (Wed., 10:20 AM EST), Great Britain (Thu., 2:20 PM) and Hungary (Sat., 10:20 AM EST).
