Devils split final two games to close out season

The 2025–2026 season for the New Jersey Devils and Nico is in the books. Playing their final two games earlier this week, the Devils secured one more victory (4–3 in overtime against Ottawa) before closing out the season with a 0–4 loss in Boston.

 

With 87 points after 82 games, New Jersey finishes the regular season in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, eleven points behind the eighth and final playoff spot. For Nico, the season ended with two more goals and one assist in the final week. Overall, he tallied 66 points (28G, 38A) for the Devils this season, while averaging 20:14 minutes of ice time per game. He prevailed in 55.8% of his faceoffs and finished his ninth NHL season a minus-6.

 

Next up for Nico may be the IIHF World Championships, which will take place May 15 – May 31 in his native Switzerland. An official announcement on behalf of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation is expected soon.
