Devils tumbling towards Olympic break

Tough week for Nico and the New Jersey Devils. Taking on the Winnipeg Jets (3–4), the Nashville Predators (3–2 OT) and the Ottawa Senators (1–4), they collected just one win and two points, losing further ground in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

With 58 points through 55 games, New Jersey currently sits in 15th place, seven points behind the eighth and final playoff spot. Over the past week, Nico scored two goals, registered a total of 14 shots on target and prevailed in 54.7% of his faceoffs. He averaged 23:14 of ice time per game and finished the week a plus-1.

With the Olympic break looming (February 6 to February 24), the Devils have two more games on tap, starting with Tuesday night’s home game vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets. They’ll close out this first portion of the regular season on Thursday night, when they’ll host the New York Islanders. Puck drop for both games is at 7 PM EST.
