Devils battle for two wins
Two wins, one loss: That’s the New Jersey Devils’ tally of this past week, after road wins in Las Vegas (2–1 SO) and Utah (2–1) and a final home loss to the Buffalo Sabres (1-3) on Sunday night.
With 41 points through 36 games, the Devils currently occupy the second wild-card spot in a ultra-competitive Eastern Conference, where the teams ranked 2nd through 13th are separated by a mere six points. Individually, Nico collected two points (2 assists) over the past week, averaging 21:43 of ice time per game and registering a total of 13 shots on goal. He prevailed in 55.2% of his faceoffs, but finished the week a minus-1.
Before the start of a brief Xmas break on Wednesday (through 26 December), the Devils will visit the New York Islanders on Tuesday evening (7 PM EST). Upon their return to action, they will close out the week vs. the Washington Capitals, who’ll be in town for a visit on Saturday night (7 PM EST).
